POM CNC Machining Services for Gears, Bushings, Rollers and Sliding Parts
Baosheng manufactures custom POM and acetal parts for low-friction mechanical assemblies, including gears, bushings, rollers, sliding blocks, wear pads, spacers, sleeves, guide parts and precision plastic components.
Send your drawing, sample requirement or project notes. We review POM-C, POM-H, black or natural POM, bore fits, OD/ID, shaft clearance, sliding surfaces, gear teeth, burr control and inspection needs before quoting.

Low Friction
For sliding parts, rollers, bushings and moving mechanical assemblies.
Stable Fits
Bores, OD/ID, shaft clearance and press-fit features reviewed before machining.
CAD Optional
Project notes are enough for first review. NDA available before file sharing.
Prototype to Batch
Functional samples, pilot runs and repeat low-volume POM parts.
Mechanical Fit
When POM Is a Strong Material Choice
POM is often selected when a plastic part needs low friction, good wear behavior, cleaner machining, low moisture absorption and stable mechanical fit.
Moving and Sliding Parts
Use POM for bushings, rollers, guides, sliding blocks and wear pads where friction and fit matter.
- Sliding faces
- Shaft clearance
- Wear surfaces
Precision Plastic Fits
Use POM when bore quality, OD/ID consistency and dimensional stability are more important than impact toughness.
- Slip fit / press fit
- Concentricity
- Burr-sensitive edges
Gears and Mechanical Components
Use POM for low-load gear prototypes, pulleys, spacers and mechanical plastic parts that need clean machined features.
- Gear teeth
- Keyways and slots
- Assembly testing
Material Choice
POM vs Nylon, PTFE, ABS and PEEK
POM is not always the best plastic. The right choice depends on friction, moisture, load, temperature, impact, chemical exposure and whether the part is cosmetic or mechanical.
| Material | Choose It When | Review Before Quoting |
|---|---|---|
| POM / Acetal | Low friction, stable bores, rollers, gears, sliding parts and precision mechanical plastic components. | POM-C vs POM-H, color, bore fit, shaft clearance, wear faces and burr control. |
| Nylon | Toughness and impact resistance matter more than moisture-related dimensional stability. | Moisture absorption, swelling, fit change and operating environment. |
| PTFE | Very low friction or chemical resistance is more important than stiffness and tight fits. | Creep, softness, deformation, sealing function and tolerance expectations. |
| ABS | Plastic housings, panels, fixtures, cosmetic prototypes or paintable parts are the goal. | Wall thickness, screw bosses, threaded inserts and painted surfaces. |
| PEEK | High temperature, higher strength or demanding engineering environments are required. | Material cost, heat exposure, certificates and tight tolerance requirements. |

Quote Review
Bore Fit, Wear Surface and Burr Control Drive POM Part Quality
For POM parts, quote accuracy depends less on the material name and more on how the part moves, fits and wears in the assembly.
Bores, OD/ID and Clearance
Confirm shaft size, bore tolerance, slip fit, press fit, concentricity and inspection method.
Gear Teeth and Running Surfaces
Mark tooth profile, contact surfaces, roller faces, sliding areas and acceptable tool marks.
Burr-Sensitive Edges
Cross holes, slots, gear teeth, flow paths and sliding edges should define deburring needs.
Moisture and Environment
POM absorbs less moisture than nylon, but operating environment and mating materials still matter.
Thin Walls and Stress
Thin features, large pockets and tight flatness should be reviewed for movement after machining.
Material Equivalent
Delrin or approved acetal equivalent can be reviewed when specified by the drawing and stock availability.
Material Options
POM / Acetal Material Options
The best option depends on strength, dimensional stability, color, availability, wear surface, operating environment and whether the drawing specifies an exact grade.
POM-C
Acetal copolymer
Common choice for balanced machined acetal parts, bushings, rollers and sliding blocks.
- Good dimensional stability
- Common stock option
POM-H
Acetal homopolymer
Reviewed when higher stiffness, strength or hardness is needed and stock is available.
- Confirm grade callout
- Review availability
Black / Natural POM
Common colors
Black is common for machine parts. Natural/white POM is useful for clean appearance and inspection.
- Confirm color
- Review cosmetic needs
Filled Acetal
Application-specific
PTFE-filled or glass-filled acetal can be reviewed for friction or stiffness requirements.
- Check wear behavior
- Confirm application need
Application Proof

Your questions answered
POM CNC Machining FAQs
Is POM good for CNC machining?
Yes. POM machines cleanly and is widely used for gears, bushings, rollers, spacers, sliding blocks, wear pads and precision mechanical plastic parts.
Is POM the same as acetal?
POM is commonly known as acetal. POM-C usually refers to acetal copolymer, while POM-H usually refers to acetal homopolymer.
Is POM better than nylon?
POM usually has lower moisture absorption and better dimensional stability than nylon. Nylon may be better where toughness and impact are more important.
Can POM be used for gears and bushings?
Yes. POM is commonly used for gears, bushings, rollers and sliding parts because it provides low friction, good machinability and stable performance in many moving assemblies.
Can you review Delrin or acetal equivalent requirements?
Yes. Delrin or approved acetal equivalent can be reviewed when specified by the drawing. Material grade, stock availability and customer approval should be confirmed before quotation.
Can you sign an NDA before reviewing drawings?
Yes. NDA support is available before confidential CAD files, drawings or product information are reviewed.
