UHMW CNC Machining Services for Wear Strips and Guide Rails

UHMW CNC machining is a strong choice for low-friction, abrasion-resistant plastic parts used in sliding, guiding and conveying applications. Baosheng machines custom UHMW-PE and PE1000 wear strips, guide rails, conveyor guides, liners, slide blocks, rollers and bushings from customer drawings.

Parts We Machine

UHMW-PE Machined Parts for Sliding and Conveyor Applications

Most UHMW machining requests are not general plastic parts. They are wear components that must slide smoothly, resist abrasion and fit existing equipment.

UHMW Wear Strips and Guide Rails

Used for conveyor lines, chain guides, belt guides, product guides and packaging equipment.

  • Wear strips
  • Guide rails
  • Conveyor guides

UHMW Liners, Slide Blocks and Wear Pads

Used where sliding contact, impact or abrasive material can wear metal or other plastics.

  • Chute liners
  • Slide blocks
  • Wear pads

UHMW Rollers, Bushings and Spacers

Used when low friction, practical clearance and quiet movement are more important than high stiffness.

  • Rollers
  • Bushings
  • Spacers

Material Grades

UHMW Material Grades: Natural, Black, Food-Grade and PE1000

The right grade depends on wear condition, color, food-contact needs, static control, friction, cost and documentation. If your drawing specifies PE1000, UHMW-PE 1000, TIVAR-type material or an approved equivalent, include that note in the RFQ.

Natural UHMW

Common for wear strips, liners, guide rails and general low-friction parts.

Black UHMW

Used for machine parts, visible guides and replacement wear components.

Food-Grade UHMW

Reviewed for conveyor guides, scraper blades and clean-contact components.

Anti-Static / ESD UHMW

Used when conveying or packaging equipment needs specified electrical behavior.

Oil-Filled UHMW

Reviewed for low-friction sliding parts and guide components.

PE1000 / TIVAR-Type

Used when the drawing calls out PE1000 or approved equivalent requirements.

Material Fit

UHMW vs Nylon, POM, PTFE and PEEK

Choose UHMW when abrasion resistance, low friction and impact behavior matter more than stiffness or very tight mechanical features.

MaterialBetter ForReview Point
UHMWWear strips, guide rails, liners and sliding partsBest when low friction and abrasion resistance are the main goals.
POM / DelrinPrecision plastic parts, stable bores and mechanical featuresOften better when tight dimensions are more important.
NylonHigher stiffness and load-bearing plastic partsReview moisture absorption and application environment.
PTFEVery low friction or chemical-resistant partsBetter for chemical exposure and sealing behavior.
PEEKHigh-temperature and high-performance engineering partsHigher cost, but better for demanding environments.

Machining Review

UHMW Machining Tolerances, Burrs and Long-Part Flatness

UHMW is softer and more flexible than metal or rigid engineering plastics. Good drawings keep critical dimensions clear and do not force metal-like tolerances across long or flexible sections.

Practical Tolerance Review

Long strips, rails, liners and thin parts should be reviewed for straightness, flatness, installation movement and inspection method.

Burr and Fuzz Control

UHMW can leave soft burrs or fuzzy edges. Mark sliding faces, product-contact edges, food-contact edges and hand-contact edges.

Hole, Slot and Countersink Fit

Mounting holes, slots and countersinks should match the installation method, screw clearance and expected part movement.

Round Part Clearance

Rollers, bushings and sleeves should be reviewed for shaft fit, bore stability, chamfers and operating clearance.

Drawing Notes

Design Notes for UHMW Wear Strips and Guide Rails

The fastest UHMW quotes usually come from drawings that explain how the part is used, not only its outside dimensions.

Mark the wear face, sliding direction and product-contact edge.

Show hole pattern, slotted holes, countersinks and mounting hardware needs.

State natural, black, food-grade, anti-static, oil-filled UHMW or PE1000.

Limit tight tolerances to critical features and show them on the PDF drawing.

Tell us the mating material, load, speed, cleaning method and operating environment when available.

For long UHMW parts, include packing or shipping notes when straightness is important.

Customer FAQ

UHMW CNC Machining FAQs

UHMW means ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. It is used for low-friction, abrasion-resistant and impact-resistant wear parts.

Yes. UHMW can be milled, routed, drilled and turned into custom wear parts, but burrs, flexibility and practical tolerance limits should be reviewed before production.

UHMW can hold useful functional tolerances, but it is not the best material for very tight bores or rigid precision features. For those parts, POM or Delrin may be better.

It can. Mark burr-free edges, sliding surfaces and product-contact areas so edge cleanup can be reviewed before quoting.
