When should I choose zinc alloy? Choose zinc alloy when your part requires good machinability, dimensional stability, plated appearance, compact mechanical features or secondary machining after die casting.
Is zinc better than aluminum? Zinc is denser and heavier than aluminum, but it is useful for small precision hardware, decorative parts, plated components and zinc die cast parts requiring post-machining. Aluminum is usually better for lightweight structures.
Which zinc alloy should I choose? Zamak 3 and Zamak 5 are common zinc die casting alloys. ZA-8, ZA-12 and ZA-27 may be reviewed when strength, wear or application requirements are different.
